Irreversible temperature indicator strips with temperature scale

Temperature Indicator Strips

Reatec temperature indicator strips are self-adhesive measurement strips that reliably indicate when a specific temperature threshold has been exceeded. They contain between eight and ten indicator points and are available in a wide variety of configurations, from high-accuracy aluminum strips to liquid-resistant protected variants. Their irreversible indicators make sure readings remain permanently visible, and the slim design lets them fit even in narrow spaces.

Which temperature indicator strip material should I choose?

All temperature indicator strips are built with a specific purpose in mind. The standard model based on a paper strip is cost-efficient, reliable and customizable in all aspects, which makes it the best all-rounder. Our professional aluminum strips are the premium model, with increased durability and thermal conductivity, which produces a faster, highly accurate reading. The protected model is ideal if you work in difficult environments.

What does a 'protected' temperature indicator strip do, and when do I need one?

The 'protected' status refers to the plastic or Kapton® film which, as the name suggests, protects the temperature indicator strip from liquids which could possibly interfere with the measurement, such as oils, solvents, and water. If you need to measure temperature thresholds in environments which are exposed to liquids or on surfaces permanently covered by liquid, a protected indicator is necessary to provide an accurate reading. Plastic film covers ranges up to 188 °C; above that we use Kapton® protection for optimal heat resistance up to 264 °C.

Can temperature indicator strips be used for measuring heat-exposure during shipping?

Yes, temperature indicator strips can be used to track heat exposure in shipping. Attached to the cargo and possibly the container, they can indicate whether heat-sensitive freight has crossed critical temperature thresholds above 38 °C. Their multi-point nature lets you check whether they crossed the threshold and also shows how far the temperature actually climbed. Since the reading stays permanently visible, temperature indicator strips can make a valuable contribution to quality control and claim protection in shipping, complementing data loggers.

Can temperature indicator strips be used on textiles and fabrics?

Yes — Reatec offers temperature indicators for textile manufacturing which serve exactly this purpose. They are specifically designed to measure temperature thresholds during all heat-sensitive steps in textile manufacturing.
