Irreversible temperature indicators for hygiene and washing control

Disinfection & Wash Indicators

Reatec hygiene indicators are irreversible temperature indicators that permanently change color once required temperature thresholds for thermal disinfection and cleaning are reached or exceeded. They are ISO 15883 compliant and therefore conform to disinfection requirements in the medical field, which makes them ideal for instrument reprocessing and medical washer-disinfectors. reaClean indicators also document other important parameters such as the cleaning time and the mechanical action of the water and cleaning solution.

How do Reatec hygiene indicators document thermal disinfection?

Reatec hygiene indicators are irreversible temperature indicators, meaning they permanently change color once the temperature threshold required for thermal disinfection has been reached. This provides a visual check alongside the washer-disinfector's own cycle records. Our reaWash hygiene indicators are available in multiple configurations, covering the full temperature window for thermal disinfection (60 - 93 °C) in multiple steps. They are, however, not suitable for confirming sterilization temperatures, as those lie considerably above 100 °C.

How does a reaClean hygiene indicator measure the cleaning process?

The reaClean hygiene indicator consists of two parts, measuring the cleaning temperature as well as showing the effectiveness of the cleaning solution and its mechanical distribution. It is outfitted with an irreversible temperature indicator which measures temperature thresholds by color change. Left and right of that indicator two test-soil fields are placed. During the cycle, one is fully covered by the metal indicator holder, while the other is exposed to the cleaning agent. After use, simply compare the two in order to get a visual indication of the effectiveness of the cleaning process.
