An indicator signifies a crossed temperature threshold by darkening evenly across the majority of the indicator point. However, while Reatec indicators are designed to turn black, they are also a chemical product susceptible to environmental factors, which means the color may vary slightly.
But as long as the darkening occurrs evenly over the majority of the window, the threshold was crossed and the reading is viable.
